It's a joke that "The Island of Taiwan was not, nor was ever, a part of Tang Dynasty China". One who has a good Chinese history background should know that the small island was a part of China for more than 1000 years.

[edit] Frankish Empire

At no point was the Frankish Empire that big; as far as I'm aware it never reached much further east than modern Austria/Germany, where this map seems to suggest Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Balkans etc all fell under it's auspices Drobba 15:16, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bulgars

By 820 AD the Bulgarian state was centuries old. The term "Bulgars" as shown on the map implies a tribe and is obviously incorrect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.222.53.2 (talk) 14:04, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Major empire of Karelia ????

According to the map legend, "colored areas show the extent of influence for the major empires of the period".That is absolute nonsense. Looks like the map authors have picked randomly some tribes they were interested about, assigned them colors and divided huge areas between these invented fantacy "empires". No, there was no Empire of Karelia at 820  ! There were thousands of small unimportant, non-state tribes like Carelians. If somebody tried to put them all on the map, that would be great. Otherwise, these kind of bogus "empires" should be deleted and their areas left gray. Warbola 03:52, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
