Women's Commission For Refugee Women and Children

The Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children is a non-governmental organization based in New York City that works to improve the lives and defend the rights of refugee and internally displaced women, youth and children around the world.
The Women's Commission was established in 1989 and is legally part of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The Women's Commission receives no direct financial support from the IRC.
The Women’s Commission researches and conducts field visits to assess the situation of refugee women, youth and children. They identify and document this group's key issues and needs and partner with policy makers, donors and organizations that work directly with refugees, advocating for policies and practices that will improve the lives of refugee women, youth and children long-term. By consulting directly with refugee women, youth and children, the Women's Commission works to ensure that their voices are taken into account in the decision-making process. The Women’s Commission focuses its advocacy efforts in four areas:
- Ensuring opportunities for displaced children and youth
- Fair treatment for families who seek asylum in the United States
- Protection of refugee women and children
- Reproductive health services
