Should we not have the articles on the glaciations point to Marine isotope stage numbers like MIS6 instead of particular names, then the names can all redirect to the MIS. Articles can then discuss the glaciation with local variations as applicable. For example, currently Riss glaciation redirects here, but the plethora of names has reduced it to a five word entry ("Riss glaciation in the Alps") in the second paragraph. --Bejnar 15:46, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

This sounds reasonable so long as the MIS articles all follow the same format and discuss the local geographic regions in the same order in each. I was familiar with North American and Northern European terms, so was entirely surprised to see them listed as subsidiary to the British term, especially since Great Britain is such a small geographic area compared to the other areas affected. The MIS approach would help remove geographical bias.Krumhorns (talk) 17:26, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
