WLCI is a low power, FM (LPFM) radio station broadcasting on 97.5 MHz. It is owned and operated by Hocking College, located in Nelsonville, Ohio USA. Its programming consists of a mix of classic rock and student-selected current or classic rock music. The FCC application to operate the station was received in December 2004.
The station is operated entirely by student volunteers and one paid, part-time student station manager. WLCI is engineered and supervised by the Coordinating Instructor of the Broadcast Production and Engineering technology. The station offers Hocking College students a chance to try their hand at being an on-air disc jockey, or other radio personnel. Even though Hocking College does offer a degree in Broadcast Production and Engineering, any student from any technology can volunteer to work at WLCI-LPFM.
