- ESPNEWS has rebranded to "ABC News Now" because ABC wants to have a secondary outlet for its news programming.
- ESPN Classic has been sold to the National Hockey League, and renamed "NHL Network", being an America-centric version of the Canadian version.
- ESPNU has been shut down because they couldn't find a buyer.
- A&E, The History Channel, related networks, and the Lifetime networks were spun off into "A&E Networks".

- At the behest of the my fantasy la-dee-dah world, Time Warner broke up into four companies:
- Warner Communications, which consists of Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, DC Comics, Warner Bros. Television, Warner Home Video, The CW (remaining 50% and stations purchased from CBS), HBO, and AOL's content assets.
- TW Multimedia, which consists of TW Cablesystems, AOL's software assets (rebranded as "Netscape Suite"), and TW Cablesystems's regional news channels.
- Time Inc, which consists of all of the non-DC publishing assets of Time Warner.
- Turner Broadcasting, which consists of all the non-HBO cable content assets of Time Warner.

- Noggin is renamed Nick Jr., ending the block on Nickelodeon after a 20-year run.
- CMT Pure Country has been replaced with Comedy Central 2, and Logo has been replaced by a general entertainment channel, Paramount Network (a basic cable channel).
- MTV Jams becomes VH1 Jams, and VH1 Soul becomes VHX (an MTVX revival)
- The long-awaited Nick Rewind channel launches as a timeshare with Nicktoons TV (which is the same thing as pre-2005 Nicktoons Network). NTTV runs from 6AM-10PM and NRW runs from 10PM-6AM.
- MTV Tr3s has become MTV Latino.
- Viacom itself has been renamed "MTV-Paramount", and split into three units, Paramount Entertainment, MTV-Paramount Networks, and MTV-Paramount Digital Media.
