A scene from The Wizard of Oz

[edit] Licensing

Non-free use rationale for Technicolor: The Technicolor film format has a unique look to it that is almost impossible to describe verbally to a lay audience. An illustration from SOME film must be used. Such a film would have to be of high technical quality, (not faded or scratched), must be typical of the use of technicolor, and must contain enough subject matter that the look can be generalized sufficiently that a viewer might then recognize it in other films he/she may encounter. Since Technicolor was an expensive format that only big studios could use, it is likely that no un-copyrighted footage from any movie exists in a form that meets this article's needs.
