Nine Lives were a rock band based in Peterborough.
[edit] History
The band was formed after guitarist Andy Hawes and multi-instrumentalist Steve Clarke produced some demonstration recordings in 1996 of original songs written by Hawes. Hawes recorded guitars, drum tracks and keyboards while Clarke provided vocals, bass guitar and some keyboards. Hawes and Clarke had previously played together in pub band Picture This but Clarke left due to family committments. The pair kept in touch and when the opportunity arose to form a band again, both were eager to do so.
Phil Freer, a friend of both Clarke and Hawes, was invited to join as was Graeme Biley, a work colleague and friend of Clarke's. The foursome then held auditions for a singer in the school where Hawes then taught. Only two hopefuls applied. Nick Breen was selected and the band started rehearsing Hawes' songs plus some cover material.
