[edit] Neccessity
Some pages have taken content from Wipipedia without citing it as the source. Although text on Wipipedia is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, that license requires that attribution (credit) is given wherever it appears. This template provides that in an easy way. --Interesdom 16:20, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Template addition
The {{Wipipedia}} template will no longer add the article page to Category:Wikipedia articles incorporating text from Wipipedia but should remain on the article page for reference. The {{Wipipedia talk}} template at the top of this page will add this talk page to the category instead, per Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 March 24#"By-source categories".—DomBot / ChiDom talk 12:29, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
