The above statement is untrue. It is actually U2's own Hanover Quay Studios (across the river from Windmill) which are due to close on the basis that they will eventually end up at the top of the aforementioned "U2 Tower". Windmill Lane Studios was never set for demolition. It is situated in a protected building. Windmill Lane Recording Studios will continue on in its current guise.
It should also be noted that this studio is no longer located on Windmill Lane, although it retains the name. Windmill Lane Studios has not been located on Windmill Lane for quite some time and the current facility was originally Ringsend Studios.
The original building in Windmill Lane houses Windmill Lane Pictures (a video post-production facility) incorporating Number 4 (an audio post-production facility), Trend Studios (audio mastering) and a number of other related services.
This site is covered in graffiti from fans who have paid pilgrimage from all over the world. For U2 fans wishing to visit the site please note it is not sign posted at all and continuously tourists get lost looking for it. Look for the Bob Bushill furniture store which faces out on to the River Liffey. Windmill Lane is the street behind this.
