Talk:Winterton-on-Sea

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Statement belittling the coastal errosion at Winterton removed. It is impossible for anyone to know what will happen to this area in coming years but it not a safe assumption that Long Shore Drift will rebuild this section of the coastline. Recently, areas facing similar problems (e.g. Sea Palling) have been fortified against errosion which has possibly broken the Long Shore Drift 'cycle'. Either way, errosion in this area has been continuous over recent decades and noticeably accelerated in recent years. Shane.Bell 13:49, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Latest edit reverted. Statement regarding Winterton havng never flooded is false; most recent example: 1953 North Sea Flood. Shane.Bell 11:00, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

The accommodation for Burnley Hall Estate is in East Somerton. Burnley Hall Estate owns land in most of the bordering villages, including Winterton, and more. Shane.Bell 08:11, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

It's a fair point that "high risk" is subjective. I've changed this to just "at risk" (evidence being the environmental agency's website). However, Burnley Hall **ESTATE** IS in Winterton-On-Sea. Be careful not to confuse 'Burnley Hall' (the building in East Somerton) with 'Burnley Hall Estate' (the game estate comprising of land from Somerton, Winterton, Horsey et al. formally Transacre; recently under new ownership.
