Wilo AG, headquartered in Dortmund, Germany, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of state-of-the-art pumps and pumping systems for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technology, water supply, sewage disposal and wastewater treatment. Founded in 1872 as copper and brass factory by Louis Opländer, the company now has subsidiaries in 50 countries and employs 5328 people worldwide (yearly average)[1].

Wilo AG is the managerial holding of the Wilo group, a result of a merger between Wilo-Salmson AG and Wilo GmbH in 2002. In 2006, a turnover of 873.4 million EUR was achieved with an EBIT of 102.1 million EUR[2].
