Williamstown High School (Victoria)

Williamstown High School is a state school situated in Williamstown, Victoria, Australia. Its current principal is Graeme Smith.

Williamstown High has long been known for environmental awareness, and as a reward for their efforts they received an 11.5 million dollar grant from the Government of Victoria to rebuild the Bayview St Campus environmentally sustainable. It offers a range of subjects, including Maths, English, Science and Humanities. It also offers students a choice of three LOTEs (languages other than English) subjects: French, Japanese and Indonesian. Other Subjects include Arts and Technology classes. Some VCE subjects taught include Philosophy and Physics. The Humanities department at this school is regarded as one of the best in the region.

Williamstown High School is renowned for having one of the best music programs in a Victorian public school and has an annual concert in September to showcase the talents of the students. The School's Senior Concert Band also goes on a tour to country Victoria every December, at the end of the school year. In 2005 the Band traveled to the Wangaratta and Mansfield region. In 2006 they toured Echuca and Bendigo. Accompanying them were the Williamstown High School Stage Band, which is widely renowed for its superior musicality and instrumental prowess. In 2007 the Senior Concert band toured Philip Island for a successful three days with the Senior Stage band and Daze of Bliss. They also competed in Ballarat at South Street for the State Intermediate band competition and were reasonably close to the top three schools.

Williamstown High School is also well known for its annual school production. The production is a chance for students with talents in the areas of singing, acting, dancing, writing and music to shine. Every year the school teachers, students, ex-students and parents will come together and put on a production. They are usually sometimes written by the students such as the 2005 and 2006 production and directed by the school's senior drama teacher Michael Waugh. Last year Williamstown High put on a popular Tony award winning play called Urinetown, at the Athaneum Theatre. This was a success with the accompanying band brilliantly playing the award-winning musical score.

There are two campuses, one which is located in Bayview Street, Williamstown (Years 7-9) and the other being located in Pasco Street, Williamstown (Years 10-12). The principal of the Bayview Campus is Mr. Steve Cook and the Pasco Campus principal is Ms. Silvana Sena. The college principal is Mr. Graeme Smith.
