William James Middle School

William James Middle School is a middle school located in Fort Worth, Texas.

James, which covers grades 6 through 8, is a part of the Fort Worth Independent School District. It also contains a magnet school that draws "gifted and talented" students from across the city.

  • School hours: 9:20 a.m.-4:20 p.m.
  • There are 62 current teachers, with a teacher to pupil ratio of 17:1.
  • Currently, 1060 students.
  • Mascot is the Mighty Bear, with representing school colors of white and orange.
  • Currently, the principal is Rian Townsend.
  • The 6th grade assistant principal is Ms. WIlliams, the 7th grade assistant principal is Mr. DeLaFlor and the 8th grade assistant principal is Mr. Bohanon.

WJMS offers a wide variety of sports, ranging from 7th to 8th grade. There is girls/boys cross country, girls/boys basketball, boys football, and girls volleyball. 6th, 7th, and 8th grade offers Whiz Quiz (technically, it's not a sport, but it's still some competition) and many more challenging competitions. Whiz quiz is a competition to see which school can answer the most questions in a round with a time limit..

Starting back in 1998, William James students must follow a strict dress code: White/Navy blue collar shirt; black or solid blue jeans/skirts/shorts. [1].

  • D. McRae Elementary School
  • T.A. Sims Elementary School

All students zoned to James are zoned to Polytechnic High School.
