William Howard Frankland
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
William Howard Frankland was a Tampa businessman who arrived in Tampa in 1925. He was the son of a "Tennessee horse buggy seller". He founded Pioneer Tire as well as Rubber Products, Inc., and was a banker as well as a member of the old Florida state Road Board.
Frankland proposed a bridge over Tampa Bay as he felt the land between the Gandy Bridge and the Courtney Campbell Causeway were ripe for development.[1]
Frankland died in 1980 at age 70.
