William Goodchild is a composer, orchestrator and arranger who produces music for film and television.

Born in Northampton, England on 3rd April, 1964 to an Australian-born father Ronald Cedric Osbourne Goodchild, (formerly Suffragan Bishop of Kensington), London and an English mother Jean Ross, Goodchild was educated at the Royal College of Music, London (1970 – 1974) where he was a Junior Exhibitioner, studying Violin and Piano. After gaining a music scholarship at St Paul’s School, London (1974 – 1981), Goodchild obtained a Bachelor's degree with Honors in music at the University of East Anglia, Norwich (1982 – 1985). He also holds a Diploma of Licentiate in Pianoforte from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (1989). Goodchild is a member of the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, the MCPS-PRS Alliance, and the Musicians' Union (UK).
Goodchild, his wife Rachel, Owner and Managing Director of Rachel Goodchild - English Contemporary Greeting Cards and Gift Wrap, and two daughters currently reside in Clifton, Bristol, England.

Goodchild works regularly with a number of international and national orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Metropolitan Orchestra. He has recorded at many of the major London recording studios including Associated Independent Recording Lyndhurst, Angel Studios, CTS Lansdowne and Mark Angelo Studios. As a musical conductor and orchestrator he has undertaken numerous projects for the BBC including several major natural history series such as Wild China (2008), Ganges (2007), Europe – a natural history (2005), Journey of Life (2004) and Wild New World (2002) and has recorded for Sony Classical Records, Universal Records, and CBS Records.
He has collaborated with international solo (music) artists as diverse as John Williams (guitarist) with whom he has recorded a number of albums, Andy Sheppard, members of the Maggini Quartet, Natalia Lomeiko, Alasdair Malloy, O-Duo and Tom Jones. In Bristol, Goodchild is guest musical conductor with the Emerald Ensemble - Bristol’s professional chamber orchestra, and the Bristol Music Club Orchestra, performing regularly at Colston Hall and St George’s Bristol.
Goodchild’s composing portfolio includes original music for natural history and history documentary, radio drama and a variety of commercial work. Recent broadcast commissions include Lobo – the Wolf that Changed America (2008) - a Natural World production for the BBC and WNET narrated by David Attenborough; Humpbacks – from Fire to Ice (2008) for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the National Geographic Society narrated by David Attenborough; Athens – the Truth about Democracy (2007) – a two-part history feature for Channel 4 produced by Lion TV and presented by Bettany Hughes; A Man among Bears (2008) - a natural history feature for Five (channel) and National Geographic produced by Aqua Vita Films; and Peter Scott – a Passion for Nature (2006) produced by Available Light Productions for BBC Two. Current commissions include a controversial new Channel 4 documentary film directed by Timothy Copestake and presented by Tony Robinson entitled The Real Solomon Key based on the forthcoming novel by Dan Brown.
Goodchild operates from his project studio in Clifton, Bristol. He uses Apple Inc. computers running Mac OS X with Logic Pro audio sequencing and Sibelius Software for sound production and audio mastering. He works with Apple Inc.'s QuickTime and other video formats and masters audio to WAV or AIFF formats.

5 July 2008 - Concert with international violinist Nadia Myerscough and the Bristol Music Club Orchestra (BMCO) at St. Georges Bristol.
