William Diamond Middle School is located in Lexington, Massachusetts. Diamond is one of two middle schools in Lexington (along with Jonas Clarke Middle School), and is one of the top schools in the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS).[1] The website for this middle school is the following: http://diamond.lexingtonma.org
The principal of Diamond is Joanne Hennessy, a former English teacher. Her vice principals are George Saxon (former math teacher) and Barbara Haughey (former English and reading teacher). The majority of students that attend Diamond come from the elementary schools Fiske Elementary School, Maria Hastings Elementary School, Joseph Estabrook Elementary School and Harrington Elementary School, depending on the location of their residence.
The school is named after William Diamond, the drummer for the Lexington Minutemen during the Battle of Lexington and Concord.

Diamond is separated into three sections, called Omega, Delta, and Sigma from the Greek alphabet. Students are separated into different teams every year depending on various factors. The previous teachers decide who fits which team.

Diamond Middle school has a foreign language program in French and Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. Many of the Advanced French and Spanish classes compete in the National French Exam and National Spanish Exam, respectively.[citation needed]
