Wilfrid Pelletier

Wilfrid Pelletier (June 20, 1896 – April 9, 1982) was a Canadian orchestra conductor.
He frequently conducted at the Metropolitan Opera and was a featured conductor for a number of RCA Victor recordings, including Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, featuring baritone Mack Harrell and a Montreal orchestra and chorus. He conducted the U.S. premieres of Rimsky-Korsakov's Le Coq d'Or and Henri Rabaud's Mârouf, savetier du Caire.
In 1938, Pelletier appeared on camera in Paramount's feature film The Big Broadcast of 1938 as he conducted Norwegian soprano Kirsten Flagstad in Brunhilde's Battle Cry from Richard Wagner's Die Walkure.
In 1937, Pelletier married the American opera singer Rose Bampton.

Place des Arts' Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, the largest multi-purpose concert hall in Canada, was named in his honour in 1966.
In 1967, he was made a Companion of the Order of Canada.
In 2002, Wilfrid Pelletier became a MasterWorks honouree for the Audio-Visual Preservation Trust of Canada.
