The Order was founded in the late 19th century as a literary society amoung the Dallas, TX elite. Several founders of Dallas's Southern Methodist University are thought to have been members. Very little is known of the organization as members are required to take a vow of silence concerning all matters surrounding the order.
The Order was disbanded during the late 1920's presumably as a result of the Great Depression. However, during the early 1980's a group of SMU undergraduate students descended from former members re-established the order.
Members can be identified around the SMU campus by their gold and turquoise pins featuring borrowed Masonic symbols. The Order is not believed to have any connection to the Freemasons.
