English Academy, also known as English Academy Bulgaria, was founded by Mark Mctaggart and Kalina Georgieva in 2006, in Varna, Bulgaria. It is a private language school with offices in Varna, Plovdiv and Sofia. The school offers native speakers for every lesson.

The school has 9 academic levels, ranging from Beginner to proficiency. Potential Students are invited to a free placement test during one of the schools testing weeks and are placed according to level.

The first office to open was in Varna during August 2006 following the closure of the British Council in the city. The school is based in the centre of the city, close to Varna cathedral. The school quickly grew tobe one of the biggest in the city and now employs 10 teachers from England or America. The school expanded in 2007 and now occupies 2 buildings with 4 classrooms on Bratya Skorpil. The school had 230 current students in March 2008, 195 being adult students and 35 being young learners.

The school expanded to Plovdiv in September 2007 under the guidance of Mark Faulkner. The school is also based in the centre of the city and has the same high standards as the Varna office. The school employs 3 native speakers and had 60 adult students in March 2008.

Plans are underway for a further expansion into the capital city, Sofia. The office will be in the centre of the city and is expected to open its doors to students from September 2008.
