This article is essentially text which formerly appeared as part of the textile manufacturing article. Some one had (quite properly) removed the text from there, but it reads as if it is soundly based, though lacking citation. It seemed a pity to lose apparently good detail. I therefore thought that it should be preserved, and created this article. I have no knowledge of its accuracy. Whether the article should remain is a matter for others to judge.
