Talk:William Boyd (actor)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My boss is a big western movies fan. He claims that William Boyd holds the record for a character played the most times by the same person. If I or someone else can verify this claim, it should be added to the main article page.
- The article states that Boyd portrayed Hopalong Cassidy 66 times. I checked to find that James Arness portrayed Matt Dillon in the Gunsmoke western series for 20 years from 1955 until 1975. That would be far in excess of 66 times as it was weekly and there were more than 20 episodes per season totaling over 400 times giving Arness the record in a series.Paul 04:39, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
The 66 movies in which William Boyd played Hopalong Cassidy were not TV-movies, but real cinema movies, so I think that the record still holds. Well at least I cannot think of any cinema movies, where the character was played more than 66 times. Besides the 66 movies William Boyd played the role of Hopalong Cassidy in 40 TV episodes from 1952 to 1954.
One must not forget the Italian-American version of this charactor " Hop-a-long Che-sediche'."
When talking about characters played most often in TV-movie series I think that Bonanza must be one of the top scores also, with 430 episodes, and featuring Michael Landon and Lorne Greene in almost everyone of them. [Guest: Joergen Hansen] 13:15, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hopalong cassidy.jpg
Image:Hopalong cassidy.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
