Talk:William Borthwick, 1st Lord Borthwick
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There is some confusion with dates. Both the 1st and 2nd Lords were both called William. If we could find another source for his year of death it would help matters. I would like to know where the 1470 comes from. I cannot find it anywhere and it seems a bit late for him. Bain (1888) has Sir William senior appearing as a truce commissioner as far back as 1398 which means he must have been at least 30 years old then. Sir William junior is first mentioned by Bain as one of the ambassadors to Rome in 1425 and his first mention of William Lord Borthwick is in July 1459. David Lauder 09:13, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
