Image:Wilson Building as Daily Planet.JPG

[edit] Summary

Screenshot from an episode of the TV series Adventures of Superman, scaled down considerably from the original screen-capture. This is actually a composite of several frames. The one piece of stock footage used over and over was a vertical pan down the building, so the complete building was never visible at once. And the bottom part of the building was typically not shown, as the film would dissolve into a plaque reading "Daily Planet Building". The camera angle plus the dissolve would disguise the fact that the building, which appeared to be a skyscraper, was really only about 12 stories tall. This building, at 5225 Wilshire, is sometimes confused with the Carnation Building, which was two blocks away at 5045, and was used only for the street-level, front-entrance shots of the "Daily Planet Building". The Carnation Building is gone; the Wilson Building still stands.
