[edit] Summary

The Woodwose (German 'Wilder Mann') on a thaler from Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel in modern Germany. Brunswick thalers from the mints in the Harz Mountains often feature the Wilder Mann as a design feature, other mints having the ruler's portrait.

Photo taken by myself of a coin in my own collection.
