Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Walt Disney World/Assessment
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Creation
I created this page due to the creation of the {{WikiProject Walt Disney World}} template. This is essential for the parameters of the new template. The quality assessments are generic across all WikiProjects, but the importance assessments need to be discussed here. Phydend (talk) 17:38, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Importance Assessments
Importance is relative to WikiProject. Thus, although Walt Disney World Resort is of High-Importance for WikiProject Florida, it should be of utmost importance for us and so I rated it as Top-Importance for our project. We need to create a scale to tell everyone who is assessing how they should assess importance. My thoughts are that the main resort page and the four main parks should be of Top-Importance. Water parks, Downtown Disney, Pleasure Island, stuff like that should be of High-Importance. I think ride articles should generally be of Low-Importance, except for major rides (like Haunted Mansion or any that would receive significant coverage). I'd say that major rides should be of Mid-Importance, only because most of them are not exclusive to Walt Disney World. However, some major rides that are exclusive to the resort and that have received significant coverage should probably be of High-Importance (i.e. Test Track). Hotels exclusive to the resort should be of Mid-Importance unless they are no longer in existence which should bump them down to Low-Importance. The icons for the parks (Cinderella's Castle, etc) should be of High-Importance, with former icons (like say Earful Tower), being bumped down to Mid or Low-Importance. The pavilions at Epcot should probably be Mid-Importance, but some of the rides at the pavilions could be High-Importance. The president of the resort (Meg Crofton at this time) should be of High-Importance while former presidents (like Al Weiss) should be of Mid-Importance. Walt Disney himself probably shouldn't be under the scope of the project since he is already under WikiProject Disney our "parent project". Characters shouldn't be in the project, as they would also be under WP:Disney, an exception would be a character created for a specific ride that was not used in a film, however, it is unlikely that such a character would have its own article anyway. I believe that should cover everything so I've created a table with this scale. Obviously it is only my idea so hopefully some discussion can achieve a consensus on these assessments.

- People and characters
| Description | Importance | Example |
|---|---|---|
| President of the resort | High | Meg Crofton |
| Former presidents of the resort | Mid | Al Weiss |
| Others high in the organization | Mid | N/A |
| Other person that has to do with the resort | Low | Miyuki (Epcot) |
| Character created especially for a specific ride at Walt Disney World | Low | Figment |
So that's just how I think it should go. If people like this we can add it to the main assessment page or we can change it up however we like. To help get the project going I'm going to be using this scale until others start to voice their opinions on it. Phydend (talk) 17:38, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
