[edit] Template for Saudi Premiership

I found a template for the Saudi Premier league teams on the french wikipedia. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Shabab_Riyad

Problem is, I don't know how to make a template. So could someone make a translation or teach me to make a template?Burning phoneix 13:03, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

No problem bro, this is the template if we put it in plain text.
Championnat d'Arabie saoudite de football 2005-2006
Abha Club | Al Ahly Djeddah | Al Ansar Médine | Al Hazm Rass | Al Hilal Riyad | Al Ittifaq Dammam
Al Ittihad Djeddah | Al Nasr Riyad | Al Qadisiya Al Khubar | Al Shabab Riyad | Al Ta'ee Ha'il | Al Wahda La Mecque
To make a template, it's like making an article, you chose the name for the template, maybe Template:Saudi Premiership, it's red now because it hasn't been created, the teams are red because they are linked with the french way of saying the clubnames.
Here is the code for the template with the Wikicode disabled, so you copy and paste that into Template:Saudi Premiership and translate some words and that's it :D
align="center" width="100%" | Championnat d'Arabie saoudite de football 2005-2006
align=center | Abha Club | Al Ahly Djeddah | Al Ansar Médine | Al Hazm Rass | Al Hilal Riyad | Al Ittifaq Dammam
align=center | Al Ittihad Djeddah | Al Nasr Riyad | Al Qadisiya Al Khubar | Al Shabab Riyad | Al Ta'ee Ha'il | Al Wahda La Mecque
good luck bro ;),, if you need anything else 7ena ta7t amrk :P --muhaidib-- (Talk | #info | ) 14:19, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Okay, It's done. How do I paste it on articles. :(Burning phoneix 14:58, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
very easy :D,, at the place where you want to include it, just write the template's name between "", so just write
Saudi Premiership
and that't it :D --muhaidib-- (Talk | #info | ) 15:15, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Saudi Arabian Music/Singers

I just created a small stub today for the Arabic singers section in Category:Saudi music and Category:Saudi singers, and I was thinking of working up those stubs and creating somthing out of them. So here is what's in there so far:

So maybe we could make a template for Saudi Music and make new articles for other singers and stuff, so who's with me :D --muhaidib-- (Talk | #info | ) 18:09, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Personally,I hate every single Arabic singer. So that means I'll be of negilible usefullness D:.Burning phoneix 06:51, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
I created a stub for Talal Maddah yesterday, and today I've noticed it's been canned!!!! Can anyone provide me with a reason? - HiJazzey 14:18, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
yeah I just saw that, what gives! --mo-- (Talk | #info | ) 19:12, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Order of succession in Saudi Arabia

Is there an articel on the topic? I'd like to know who is second after prince Sultan. King Abdullah and crown prince Sultan had been Second Vice Premier before getting crown prince. Who is second vice-premier now? As to Ibn Sauds wish there will never be a crown prince and a king at the same time born by the same mother. Thanks -- Cherubino 21:06, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't think that the person after Prince Sultan has been chosen yet --mo-- (Talk | #info | ) 22:45, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
The king assigns his succesor when he becomes king, not before.Burning phoneix 06:59, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Because of the principle of Seniority and the "clan-code" of changing motherhood, next crown prince won't be a Sudairi. But the remaining Sudairi six are mighty, and Salman seems to have good chances. But that`s glass sphere. Crown prince Abdallah by all means proclaimed Sultan as his successor when King Fahd supplemented order of succession in 1992, allowing (great-)grandchildren bin Sauds to become king . The Sudairis strategy Sultan to survive crown prince Abdallah did not achieve. -- Cherubino 20:15, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Saudi World cup bios

Recently, players like Mohamed Al-Dayeaya and Sami Al-Jaber have had their pages updated with new info. Appparently, this info was cut and pasted from the Fifa World cup website. Can we do that?. Burning phoneix 12:50, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

sure,, why not --mo-- (Talk | #info | ) 22:00, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

You mean...It qualifies as far use? Burning phoneix 21:10, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Aviation add to King Abdulaziz Airport

I added Evergreen Aviation to the North Terminal list as they flew there when I served in the Fire Service at the airport - sort of a nice trivia thing (that people do not know about) because it is always assumed there are no American companies that fly into Saud - when there actually is one. They are based out of Dubai for those local operations but last I checked their HQ is in Oregon.

[edit] help requested regarding image of at-Ta'if

i thought this would be the best place to request some assistance regarding an image of at-Ta`if uploaded a long time ago (Image:Taif_1970_Saudi_Arabia.jpg). can anyone find the source for this image? i personally was unable to do so. does anyone have know of any images of at-Ta`if (perferably a picture of the mountainous areas) which has a free license (CC, GFDL etc)? i found one or two images under ownership of saudiembassy.net and i have contacted them requesting that they release the images under GFDL (no answer yet). does anyone know of any good, free images available? thank you. [edit] Project directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 16:13, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 20:49, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Saudi Arabic

I noticed this page doesn't exist. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Saudi_Arabic&action=edit but its listed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varieties_of_Arabic#Post-Islamic_or_post-Arab_Expansion

Maybe someone can make a small page naming and explaining the different varieties spoken in Saudi Arabia? Just a suggestion. -Mlaheji 08:49, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A Virtual Tour of Saudi Arabia

I have been told not to add ‘A Virtual Tour of Saudi Arabia' because I own the site. The site has been on this page, and others in Wiki, in the past and was removed for some reason. The site offers a unique view of Saudi Arabia and has had several articles written about it in Arab papers in the last couple of years. The last article said it was better then the Official site of their Supreme Commission of Tourism.

I would like to know why it was remove a few months ago, if anyone can remember why? Also, why it cannot be included now?

I wrongly assumed the reason it could not be added was I had to become an editor. If to add it I have to resign then I will.

[edit] Proposed New Preamble to Saudi Arabia section

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Arabic: المملكة العربية السعودية, al-Mamlaka al-ʻArabiyya as-Saʻūdiyya) is the largest country on the Arabian Peninsula. It is bordered by Jordan on the northwest, Iraq on the north and northeast, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates on the east, Oman on the southeast, and Yemen on the south, with the Persian Gulf to its northeast and the Red Sea to its west. It has an estimated population of 27.5 million, and its size is approximately 2,150,000 square km (830,000 square miles) The Kingdom is sometimes called "The Land of The Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Mecca (Makkah) and Medina, the two holiest places in Islam. In English, it is most commonly referred to as Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom was founded by Abdul-Aziz bin Saud, whose efforts began in 1902 when he captured the Al-Saud’s ancestral home of Riyadh, and culminated in 1932 with the proclamation, and recognition of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the first time in history that this extensive area of the Arabian peninsula had been unified. Saudi Arabia, along with Russia, is one of the world’s largest petroleum exporter. Petroleum exports represent 75% of the government’s revenue, though serious efforts are being made to diversify the economy. The Kingdom annually hosts the Haj, the pilgrimage to Mecca (Makkah), one of the five pillars of Islam. Between two to three million pilgrims participate each year. Total GDP is approximately $450 billion, ranking it 27th in the world. The government is a monarchy, which is officially advised by a majlis (consultative assembly). The legal basis for the government is Islamic law (the Sharia)

[edit] Personal Projects

Hi, I've been interested on arabian subjects for some time now, though translating more english content to german than actually editing english articles. I visited Riyadh and the east province some years ago and became quit addicted to the atmosphere of Diriyah. At that time being a student of architecture and very interested in vernacular architecture, I was thrilled with the opportunity to scramble all over the empty buildings and study them in detail. Thus during my stay in the "Magic Kingdom" this time I hope to be able to study even more of arabian architecture and architecture in Arabia. As part of the latter I have started to gather material about Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil and his buildings. I have also begun to visit his works in Jeddah and hopefully will have time to write about these subjects. Any help, such as photos of the inside of his mosques would be appreciated. I have also written about the Red Sea Mall, as I happened to have come along material about it I could use. I used the template I found at the Mall of America for it but couldn't find all the information it suggested to provide. Using these guidlines would be a great way to improve the existing shopping mall stubbs of Saudia Arabia or if they dont seem fit, draft some new ones adjusted to available local information and general local interest. The subjects I plan, spare time provided, to focus on though are older buildings and basic history. Tayma has generated some interst in Germany lately (I started the german article with a translation of the english content some time ago), so I guess I will try to add stuff there as well as look into Khaybar and Al-Ula, as the three seem somewhat related. However my main aim during this visit is old buildings in Jeddah and Diriyah. I bought a copy of the February 2008 issue of the architectural magazine "albenaa" which among others features an article on the future plans for Diriyah, converting it into a major touristic attraction. I surely do hope not too much of its authentic material gets destroyed. Does anyone have access to architectural plans of some of it's original structures? Same for Jeddah, any detailed scaled plans around? Same with forts. I know there was some general survey of forts related to the Hadj done recently or still underway. Anything known one could make scetches from that may be used in wp? Maybe a general article on the history of fortifications in Saudi-Arabia might be usefull and could connect and put in a general time frame articles like those in the Category:Forts in Saudi Arabia and Mard Castle and future ones such as about the forts in Hofuf or Jifan near Kharj and Muwayh al Qadim east of Harrat Kishb, or the Hajj qaal'ats such as those at Hisn Joffah, Khulays, Usfan and Dukhan around Jeddah or along the Hejaz Railway, not to mention all the old city gates or city walls that may have survived or not. --T.woelk (talk) 21:36, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed deletion of Healthcare in Saudi Arabia

An editor has put a proposed deletion tag on this article with the text:

This article is unreferenced, so it fails wikipedia's most fundamental policy, of verifiability. The edit screen for creation of a new article clearly warns editors that unreferenced material may be deleted, and this article has been tagged as unreferenced since June 2006, which is quite long enough for references to be have been added. However, they haven't been added, and now it's time for this article to be deleted as unverified. A new article on the subject may of course be written in future, if it is referenced to met WP:V and to establish N|notability.

This is pretty obviously a notable subject which should have an article, so could anyone with knowledge of the subject please add some references so it doesn't get deleted? Phil Bridger (talk) 11:43, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Draft Guidelines for Lists of companies by country - Feedback Requested

Within WikiProject Companies I am trying to establish guidelines for all Lists of companies by country, the implementation of which would hopefully ensure a minimum quality standard and level of consistency across all of these related but currently disparate articles.
