[edit] Steps to avoid AfD
Provide one or more of the following to deter or defeat AfD:
- Unquestionable notability, as in "I can't believe Wikipedia doesn't have an article about this." Stubs are acceptable if notability is without question. It is highly unlikely any of the conferences unless the conference is famous, such as being featured in a notable book or movie.
- Provide unquestionable quality, as in "yeah that topic really isn't notable, but it would be ashamed to throw out this obvious featured-article-candidate over something as trivial as policy." People respect hard work.
My recommendation: Let existing stub articles die if they are PRODded or AfDd. Concentrate on the rest. Bring them up to at least B-class.
Then go back and pick up the "missing" articles. Draft them in Wikipedia:WikiProject Ohio/HS Athletic Conferences/Drafts until they are B-quality, then move them to main-space.

[edit] Merge the lists?
There are 3 lists now.
The first one is redundant.
The 2nd two can be merged by adding a column UMWSports Merge Candidate to davidwr's list and deleting UMWSports's list. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 20:49, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Done, now we have one monster list. Even the drafts are linked from it. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 23:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Article Format
So aside from listing current and former/future members, it seemed that the articles with history sections and tables showing league champions in various sports were (understandably) acceptable for article layouts. We'd probably have to contact league ADs, newspapers, and possibly yearbooks to gain these types of information.
I know from my own research that most OHSAA leagues do not have a website, nor do they post this sort of information on the web. If we can compile a lot of this for Wikipedia users, we would be providing them with what appears to be relevant information for many people. What I mean is, if many pages have been created and edited for featured OHSAA leagues, then it would seem to be of much interest. Ohio appears to be one of the unique states for this.
