Hello, The Kabbalah is currently a major sacred text of Hassidic Judaism (a large subgroup within Orthodox Judaism), as well as a text of interest to some very non-traditional religious streams and to contemporary popular culture. The result is a very wide variation in the type of people interested in this subject and the type of interpretations they give it. Great care will be needed in complying with the attribution policy and attributing statements to figures within particular points of view, so that readers will be able to identify which statements and beliefs are made and held by traditional Jewish religious interpreters, which by academic scholarship, and which by alternative religious streams and popular culture. In addition, the reliable sources policy which generally prohibits self-published works, requires careful adherence in a case like this. Although Wikipedia has tended to relax reliable resourcing requirements for popular culture topics, in cases where there are clashes of perspectives, these clashes tend to be resolved in favor of stricter adherence to the sourcing policy. The hope is that this will produce a higher-quality and more reliable article, and that edit conflicts can be resolved with good faith and civility. The Kabbalah article states it is mystical. [edit] Tarot Arcana

There should probably be a(n set of) articles describing the relevance of the 78 arcana of the Tarot as pertaining to the Tree of Life. I will join the project if I am welcome. I have spent the past few years putting together information on the subject.

The Tarot is a sort of alternate translation of the ideas behind the Tree of Life. The Golden Dawn knew this, though I'm not sure how many link the two Books together today. I feel that the process of cross-referencing spiritual ideas between texts (or sets of pictures/symbols) is absolutely integral to self-realization.

Having this information present on wikipedia might turn a lot of Pagans onto the Kabbalah and versa vice. I'm all about everyone coming together, so I'd be happy to put together some beautiful articles.

There is a new WikiProject task force proposal at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Inter-religious content that is being proposed to deal specifically with articles whose content relates to several religious traditions. [edit] Lindsay Lohan???

I would very much like to understand why the Lindsay Lohan article is considered by this Wikiproject to fall under its jurisdiction, as there is not a single word about Lohan having anything to do with Kabbalah in the entire article. If she is indeed a practitioner of this belief system, then without any mention of it in the article, how does it rate a "B" class? Risker 16:37, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

This list needs to be referenced. Technically, every individual entry should have its own reference citation. Also, if these people are to be listed in the matching category, there should be some content, preferably sourced, included in the appropriate articles. Thank you. [edit] Relevance of articles about numbers

Cross-posted at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Judaism

After de-listing 26 (number) from this WikiProject, I realized that de-listing similar articles such as 42 (number) might start a fight. My argument is that Judaism/Kabbalah is not the primary concern of these articles, but rather a trivial element within them. A statement such as "God's name Jehovah has a Gematria of 26" belongs more in an article about God's name, where such information can be centralized. Shalom Hello 02:05, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

To me the whole idea of having wikiprojects banners on talk pages doesn't make any sense. It is not as if the wikiproject is responsible for the article, or they have a greater say in it. The whole system seems kinda silly. Likewise I don't see any reason to remove the banners. I am missing something? Jon513 16:15, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Can somone who is fluent in Hebrew take a look at the Ain Soph article please? Someone has posted the spelling of it has either Ein Sof or Ain Suph? Are these variations acceptable? And if so why? Is wikipedia allowing Hebrew to be bastardised now?--Redblossom (talk) 19:49, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, several pages use "Ein Sof" as an alternate spelling, as indicated by google here, particularly in connection with the Kabbalah. "Ain Suph" isn't used as often, as shown here, but is used as well. John Carter (talk) 19:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Would it not make life easier if a Rabbi or a fluent Hebrew speaker was solicited to go over all the Kabbalah articles to ensure proper spelling is accorded and used within proper context? It would ensure that the articles were seen has a reasonable piece of academia and not someones internet hobby on the side? The one question I have, and this might be just me, is whether the proper Hebrew spelling as thought today would necessarily be the most appropriate to the article. In some cases, I have seen where what is technically an improper spelling, but the more recognized form of a term within that particular context, is the one used for a title, largely because that better known spelling makes it preferable according to WP:NAME. Having said that, it might not be a bad idea to create a user subpage listing the various spellings by choice and letting some of the more active members of the project look it over to determine which one should be chosen as the article's title.
