You could request for help at the Australian Wikipedians' Notice Board. Also, you could create a project notice (cf. {{WPANotice}}) to place on talk pages of related articles to promote the WikiProject.--cj | talk 11:14, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Same here for Australia at the Winter Olympics to an extent (the mention of Michael Milton and Janine Shepherd was good, both the result of plugging the article on the noticeboard). Look on the bright side: no edit conflicts! (Well, apart from a conflict over Janine Shepherd's year of birth). Out of curiosity, what was Michael Milton like as an AFL player? I guess having someone else look at a near-finished article is good. And swapping hints on how to write good sports articles. Collaboration of the fortnight isn't a bad recruiting mechanism, even ones that are just getting voted on seem to get a response. Andjam 14:21, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion. I think your olympic article looks A-Class to me, but I'd appreciate some expert opinion on that! You could also get help with that one here, and you could also nominate it for WP:GA. Meanwhile Cynna Neele is a decent article too, though it needs a couple of non-copyright images. Hey, I was writing Youth Girls Competition (a junior women's Australian Rules league) and I couldn't find any decent category to cover it as a junior league, in fact the only decent category I could find was Category:Children's sport!! Seems a bit weird. Maybe someone could develop a better category structure for junior sports, certainly there are other articles such as Auskick which has no category that represents its "junior" status. cheers, pfctdayelise (translate?) 13:59, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

The page mentioned above was created by me in relation to Police Rugby League in the state of Victoria. It appears to be the only one of its kind on the site and refers to a notable club and organisation helping pave the way for rugby league in this state. It was deleted but has had appropriate changes made to it. Any advice or assistance would be appreciated as I am new to this site and would like to have the deletion reversed. Thank you. AUS Sailing - John Bertrand confusion There are two John Bertanrds in Sailing, and they both won medals in the Olympic Finn class. I added a complete explaination the John Bertrand page including the pertinent Olympic medals, dates of birth, etc, but someone condensed it down to a single sentence. [edit] Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Just letting anyone who is interested in domestic cricket know I have updated all the Sheffield Shield teams with nice little infoboxes, although the total stats I got from cricket australia seem very dodgy to me. ie NSW only having played 110 games in over 100 years? Anyone know where to get more accurate info? (Seems like CA have better things to do than worry about history).

Also anyone interested in Tasmanian Club cricket, I have done the Tasmanian Cricket Association, Tasmanian Grade Cricket, and all of the Southern TCA side's pages, and will continue to update the northern ones over the next few days. Rac fleming.

[edit] State cricket teams / rugby league team names

National teams are generally named (Country) national (sport) team eg. France national rugby union team, Argentina national football team, Australian cricket team, Japan national baseball team. (Notice cricket is an exception because the West Indies aren't really a nation, so "national" is omitted for all teams.) Should we name state teams in a similar way? eg.

In the case of the cricket teams, it would help when team names change with sponsorship arrangements change.

In the case of the rugby league teams, I don't know a lot about the sport so I've been trying to discuss on the article talk pages but haven't got a clear consensus.

Today the disqualification of the Tunesian swimmer was announced by the Court of Sport Arbitration, which entails the revocation of his 2 medals from Melbourne 2007. Consequently, the article and its dependent articles (Swimming at.., the biogram of the athlete) need updating, as well as the addition of the newly created replacement medal winners and their times. I suppose his medal results should be retained in the 2 competition tables, but put on pink background or whatever is customary. --Mareklug talk 17:54, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I've created some templates with the hex values of official colours of the domestic cricket teams. I've added them to the category Category:Australian_cricket_colour_templates - that page also has a sample of their colours (some of the colours used were a bit off the exact ones used - compare old and new versions of Pura Cup to see the difference.)

Hi Chuq. You may get a better response at WP:AWNB and WT:CRIC. Personally, while I would certainly participate in such a project, perhaps rather than a separate WikiProject it would be more suitable to establish an Australian cricket task force (including a discussion page, to-do list and a few other tools) inside the two parent projects. I am not sure that the scope needs all the paraphernalia (such as tagging) that comes with a project. Regardless, I am certainly keen to be involved. Also, have a look at the advert above. That's possible, but what prompted me to suggest a separate project was because I am currently crossposting comments both here an WT:CRIC. A task force would have the same problem - which project is it a part of? If there is a clear precedent that is easy, but my suggested name I thought was following precendents of WikiProjects Australian basketball, Australian motorsport, Football (soccer) in Australia, etc. by being a fully separate project. -- Chuq (talk) 03:29, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
I am happy for a new project to form, my concern is WP:CRIC and WP:AUS are strong projects with plenty of interaction and collaboration. I am not sure that is the case with the ones you have listed above. As for what project the task force would belong to, it would belong to both.
