Russian Wikipedia contains more articles than all another wikipedias in languages of Russia. Since almost all residents of Russia understand Russian language, it's Russian Wikipedia which is used as a backbone for constructing Wikipedia in other languages. Infoboxes, templates, geographical caterogization etc. are ported to other language editions from Russian one.
