Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Tutorial series

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a tutorial series in the Wikipedia Signpost. The intent of the series is to introduce readers to new editing techniques and areas of Wikipedia, and we aim for as broad a coverage as possible, with articles aimed at a variety of levels of experience.

Suggested format:

  • Tutorial-like format
  • Takes 5 minutes at most to read, suggested activities/exercises take at most 5 minutes to do
  • Step-by-step instructions, possibly with screen captures or other diagrams if it aids understanding
  • Pitched at the correct level
  • Links for further exploration of topic

Skill levels:

  • Beginner - 50%
  • Intermediate - 30%-40%
  • Advanced - 10-20% - may require administrator rights

News:

  • Thanks everyone for signing up - it's great to see this level of support. I may move stuff around to get better balance, so let me know if I've moved you to a date you can't commit to.
  • See my first tutorial at Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2008-01-14/Tutorial - I've tried to follow the style of those computer self-help books, if you've ever read those. Feel free to use as little or as much of this format as you like, and comments would be useful (put on talk page).
