Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of topics
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome to the Topic lists WikiProject. This project deals with stand-alone lists, other than basic topic lists, including timelines. In addition to being topical presentations of their respective subjects, Wikipedia's lists also serve as a table of contents system and provide an alternative to the category system.
Issues and tasks to be dealt with by this WikiProject include the development of a (multi-page) list of all lists (the page known as Lists of topics), the building of lists (especially those that cover root subjects), standardizing list formats, and removing the list vs. category conflict between editors from Wikipedia (the conflict results in many lists being deleted at AfD, which is an incredible waste that needs to be put to an end).
Below is a snapshot of subject coverage, starting with the most major root subjects. As these are created, completed, and removed from the task list, the search for gaps in coverage can be expanded, and more links added. As each is created, it should be added to Lists of topics.
A Wikipedia-specific search by Google for articles with "List of" in their titles results in 30,000 hits, though I don't know how many are duplicate hits, and many lists don't even have "list" in their titles. All of these need to be hooked into the list system, which is a near-hierarchical network in which all but the lowest (and largest) level includes (but is not limited to) lists of lists.

Each of the following lists needs to be created if they are redlinks, checked for coverage if they are blue, replaced if they are redirects, and developed to comprehensiveness.
