Notice If you upload an image and don't want it to be deleted, you must add some appropriate tag and a detailed fair use rationale to the image description page at [[Image:Filename]]. This should help the image meet Wikipedia's non-free content criteria policy. For film shots, you should use {{film-screenshot}}.


The Category:Harry Potter Images, and its subcategories, hold all images used in articles covered by the Harry Potter Wikiproject (that is to say, all articles featuring a {{WPHP}} template). The last time this database was fully updated for all articles in the Project was 17:38, 21 August 2007 (UTC).

  • Check fair-use tags for movie screnshots
A depressing number of images in the category do not have fair-use rationales. Please add them, either by using the default {{Non-free use rationale}} template, or the slightly easier Harry Potter version: {{subst:hpfur|film number | 'description' field | detail to fill into 'purpose' field | F}}. Full details of the latter's syntax can be found on it's Template page.
  • Identify orphaned (that is, unused) fair use images and move them to the Category:Harry Potter Images (orphaned) subcategory.
  • Identify useful orphaned fair use images from the above category and insert them in suitable locations in appropriate articles. Make sure to include a fair use rationale when you do so.
  • Search for Harry Potter images which have been missed and are not included, and add them to the category
  • Upload improved versions of those images which are of poor quality (mainly those which claim to be print-screens from someone playing the movie on their PC - the quality of some of these is dreadful).
