Wikipedia:WikiProject English
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome to WikiProject English. Some Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's use of national English varieties. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.

[edit] Goals
- Recruit members who are native-English speakers from many countries and strong copyeditors.
- Maintain consistency within articles
- Convert article to the appropriate variety of English for articles with strong national ties to a topic
- Retain the existing variety of english in established articles
- Seek opportunities for commonality in word choice and usage
[edit] Scope
While all articles could theoretically be included in this project, we will focus on articles under the following categories: England, Australia, United States, South Africa, New Zealand, Ireland and Canada. Attention should also be given to articles under the umbrella of countries with large English-speaking populations, territories of English-speaking countries and former or current Anglophone colonies and territories. These include (but are not limited to): India, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean.
What is a example of an article with strong national ties?
- Keith Urban — Australian English
- Thriller (album) — United States English
- Apple Records — British English
Which articles are nationally neutral (do not have strong national ties)?
