[edit] Speedy deletion

Resolved. Page moved to Template: namespace. Миша13 23:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

My Wikinews update on obits is not vandalism or just plain goofy. It is part of a broader effort to more closely collaborate between the Wikinews and Wikipedia projects! See User:Wikinews Importer Bot and n:Wikinews:Water cooler/miscellaneous#The Wikinews Importer Bot. Cheers! :-) RichardF (talk) 13:05, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

There is already a well-supported and timely list at Deaths in 2008. I see no purpose in this alternative provision which has much less content and will detract from an existing high-traffic page. Why would we want to maintain two separate lists that report the same information? WWGB (talk) 13:11, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Postscript: the list is already inaccurate with just two entries. Andrés Henestrosa died on 10 January, not 11 January. WWGB (talk) 13:18, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
No maintenance is involved. The Wikinews list will be updated hourly, as needed, by the User:Wikinews Importer Bot. The value of this link is it clearly shows the obituary items available at Wikinews for readers and editors, thus promoting and encouraging further inter project collaboration. This is a good thing! The dates on Wikinews are article dates. :-) RichardF (talk) 13:22, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
"11 January: Mexican senator Andrés Henestrosa dies at 101". How misleading is that? Sorry, but that's not my idea of a "good thing". WWGB (talk) 13:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
These use the publish date of the wikinews article (technically the date the category was included), since deaths are something that dates are kind of critical, i wonder if the articles should be imported without addcategorydate=true. Bawolff (talk) 16:41, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
I have no problem with that. RichardF (talk) 16:51, 13 January 2008 (UTC) I removed the dates at Wikinews. This page should update within the hour. RichardF (talk) 16:54, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Redundancy is not covered by any CSD, except when it's vandalism (which this isn't). I'm declining the speedy deletion request. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 13:44, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
