The Whitewater Shopping Centre, opened in Newbridge, County Kildare in April 2006, is the biggest shopping centre in the country outside of Dublin and the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick[citation needed]. It attracted over 213,000 visitors in its first two weeks of opening.
Located in the centre of the fast-growing Newbridge, the shopping centre attracts people from across mid-Leinster, as well as from towns nearby, such as Naas, Kildare, Celbridge, Maynooth and Athy.
In early 2008, debate is ongoing about a proposal for a cinema attached to the centre.
