[edit] History

Early WhipKraft started out as a duo in San Francisco’s industrial Rocker Studios as a musical experiment. Vena Kava officially formed WhipKraft in 2004. However in 2003 Vena Kava met Adrian Maestas (Lord Weird Sough Feg) to form the early foundations of the band. In 2004 WhipKraft found Davide Paterno who became the Synth player for the band. WhipKraft was soon a live circuit act, with Slough Feg Members backing Vena Kava; these included, Maestas, Mike Scalzi, and Greg Ha. WhipKraft was a full on theatrical performance, with dancers, performers, and costumes. In 2006 WhipKraft started working on the debut album "Welcome to the Chapel Perilous, enlisting various musicians to embed the music with various qualities.

WhipKraft draws from the following musical influences: Rammstein, Ministry, Fear of God, Death Ride 69, Rob Zombie, Skinny Puppy, Alien Sex Fiend, Christian Death, Nick Cave, Dean Can Dance, Nine Inch Nails, and Deftones. Also "darker aspects of life: Suffering, fear, mortality and morbidity, mental illness, hospitals, heartbreak, and denial. On a lighter note, we also draw from magic, witchcraft, ritual, strange scientific theories and psychology."

WhipKraft is often misjudged to be a fetish performance band like the Genitorturers, however WhipKraft equates itself more with Witchcraft and fantasy, not BDSM or fetish. "We really have a visual thing for blood, bats, gore, vampires, monsters, devils, rituals, witchcraft"
