User talk:Whiteandnerdy111

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nathannoblet, who changed his username to Punk Boi 8, was community banned for one year early in 2006. He has sockpuppeted since, and his ban has been reset. This ban is still in effect.

Punk Boi 8's method of operation equated to disruption, an attempt to get "in" with various heirachies and structures, and consistent failure to accept a hint. Although this isn't mutually exclusive to him, various distinctive patterns have emerged for those who have dealt with him.

A new editor, Whiteandnerdy111, has recently sprung into existance. Having had to deal with him on WP:AC/CN, one current arbitrator (who dealt with the Punk Boi 8 account) commented that "The similarities between Nathannoblet and him are staggering", after I merely said the name "Whiteandnerdy111" (I immediately noted that I agreed with the observation).

Most interestingly, however, is edit patterns. Many of the very few mainspace edits Punk Boi 8 made were to articles relating to New Years Eve fireworks in Sydney (see [1][2][3][4]), something which Whiteandnerdy111 also shares in his also-few article edits (see [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]). This is quite bizarre given both user acounts state that they're Victorian, and Melbourne have their own fireworks show on NYE. The coincidence that two Victorians edit the same otherwise-unrelated topic is curious.

The case becomes even more evident when you consider this users' contributions to the Signpost. Anyone who knows the old Punk Boi 8 account knows how seriously involved he was in this, even filing an RfAr against Ral315 when things didn't go his way, and creating a competitor newspaper in retaliation. Whiteandnerdy with his 50th-or-so edit offered to write for the Signpost (and offered to cover), and then after around 100 edits was writing articles.

The plot thickens when you consider off-Wiki information. Punk Boi 8 (ie. Nathannoblet) openly stated that he lived in a certain suburb of Victoria, seen here. Whiteandnerdy111 also stated he lived in Victoria, and has edited topics in relation to the area around his place of residence (see Talk:Sorrento, Victoria for one example).

Furthermore, Punk Boi 8's mailing account attempted to make contact with me and a number of other users who "dealt" with him last time (by way of GChat) only two days before Whiteandnerdy111 started editing again. This was after around six months of relative silence from Punk Boi 8. Whiteandnerdy111 also left a comment regarding the ban on Punk Boi 8, which qualifies as bizarre given all the circumstances.[14]

As a result of all this, I have concluded that it obvious that Whiteandnerdy111 is a sockpuppet of Punk Boi 8, and have blocked that account indefinitely and reset the ban on Punk Boi 8 for another year. Thanks, Daniel 06:01, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Note: Checkuser information indicates the internet service provider and location are the same for the Punk Boi 8 and Whiteandnerdy111 accounts, although the checkuser "can't give much precision because 1) It's one of those big dynamic ISPs and 2) It's been a while since the last CU". However, the fact that the ISP and location match, in combination with the editing similarities, make for a clear decision. Thanks, Daniel (talk) 05:44, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Pokémon

The list of participants of the Pokémon WikiProject is quite sizable, however, there is no way to determine which of whom are active contributors to that project. All participants in the list have been moved to Inactive. If you consider yourself to be an active member of the Pokémon WikiProject, please go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Pokémon#Participants and move your username to the Active section. Thank you.
