Out of curiosity, does the term "White" have something to do with the fact that the less radical revolutionaries of the Russian Revolution were "Whites" and the more radical revolutionaries were "Reds." Allentchang 15:28, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC)

it had to do with the colors of the royalists, the republicans had the tricolore and the royalists had the white. --DelftUser 2005 July 8 14:28 (UTC)

I've removed the justification of the white error based on previous red terror. That was an ethic conclusion who doesn't belong here.IsmaelPR 18:29, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

"48,000 on 72,000 total permitted by the census suffrage". Does this perhaps mean to say "48,000 of the 72,000 granted the right to vote under extremely limited suffrage"? Or does it mean something else? - Jmabel | Talk 01:55, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

The French White Terror happens after the restoration in the beginning of the 19th century. The terror of 1794 was the Red Terror of Robespierre's legacy and should not be confused with its ultra-royalist counterpart. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.64.223.203 (talk • contribs) 20 October 2006.

That is simply not true. While there was certainly a White Terror after the restoration, the original White Terror was the one addressed against real and suspected Jacobins by the leaders of the Thermidorian Convention and their supporters after the downfall and execution of Robespierre. - Jmabel | Talk 06:47, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Why is there so little on this? There is a long, detalied and well-cited page on the red terror but two sentences on the White terror. Sweetpotos (talk) 06:55, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Possibly because Red terror lasted longer and its victims were more numerous. --Humanophage (talk) 19:20, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
