What U See Is What U Get is the first single from Xzibit's second album, "40 Dayz & 40 Nightz". In its first week the song reached #50 on the Billboard Hot 100. It remains Xzibit's highest charting single as it peaked at #3 in Hot Rap Singles. A music video directed by Gregory Dark was filmed in Los Angeles. In the music video it shows Xzibit walking to a shop, while he is going his way a lot of violent incidents happen, such as bombing and shooting. However in the album version of the song sounds of bombs and guns are taken off. [1] The music video peaked at #1 during 6 weeks at BET's "Rap City". In the end of the video Xzibit is back home and has brought his stuff from the shop. This single has the sounds of batty music and Pattreck hits. The lyrics are also about the violation on the streets such as killing. Production comes from Jesse West and co-production from Xzibit himself. It was released as a single in July 6, 1998. This song was considered to be his biggest hit by fans, until Xzibit outperformed himself two years later with the release of "X". The next single for the album, "3 Card Molly", was a b-side for this song. The song was also featured in a mash-up on the Loud Rocks Album ft. Sevendust.
