What Makes Daffy Duck is a Warner Bros. Looney Tunes cartoon, directed by the short-time director Arthur Davis, and starring Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and an unnamed fox. The film is notable as the fourth pairing of Elmer Fudd and Daffy Duck, their first pairing being To Duck or Not to Duck and the second being The Stupid Cupid.
[edit] Plot
It's Duck Season again and Daffy then says "Oh it's only you!" then he states that it's duck season and "Confidentially, I'm a duck" Then he takes a shower while singing "King for a Day." Then Elmer Fudd and a fox (whom Daffy calls "Fortescue") sneak up on Daffy and try to grab him. As Daffy exits the shower they discover that someone else is after the duck. Then as they grab Daffy and Daffy states that they both want a duck and Daffy tells them that the first one to reach the lonesome pine gets Daffy and first prize. As the race starts, Daffy presumes both predators are now far away and shouts "So long, chumps!" but the fox hasn't left at all and takes Daffy while screaming to Elmer that he has been cheated. While Elmer, at Daffy's encouragement, runs back, Daffy puts grease on the ground, causing the fox to slide right into Elmer's clutches. While the fox flees and knocks himself out against a tree, Elmer closes in on Daffy, who uses a Bugs Bunny-style gag to escape.
Later, Daffy is looking in a mirror, as Elmer dresses up as a female duck. When Daffy discovers it's an impostor, he uses a duck call to lure the fox to get the duck and it succeeds until the fox discovers it's Elmer. The fox grabs Daffy but Elmer pulls his rifle, ordering him to "Dwop that duck! Thwow up your hands! Now turn awound, you! Get going and don't come back!" Elmer grabs Daffy, who then encourages the fox just as he encouraged Elmer before. The fox stops Elmer from shooting Daffy, and a fight ensues between the two would-be hunters. Then a game warden (a dog) announces that duck season is closed and fox season is open, bad news for the fox, who now flees Elmer. The warden unmasks as Daffy, stating "Obviously, I am dealing with inferior mentalities!" as the cartoon ends.
