"What I Want" is the second U.S. rock single, (the third overall), from the band Daughtry from their self titled debut album. It was released only to U.S. rock stations on April 23, 2007. The song features Slash on guitar, and is the heaviest song on the album.
The band opted to release the track to rock radio only, due to the fact that their second single, "Home", was not being played on rock stations due to its lighter sound. Since the band had had success on the format with their first single, "It's Not Over", they wanted to follow the song up, so "What I Want" was serviced to rock stations as the second single, while "Home" served as the mainstream, physically released second single. Since this was not a full single release, a music video for the song was not made.
"What I Want" is also featured as one of the songs on the Guitar Hero: On Tour game for the Nintendo DS.
[edit] Charts
The single was one of the most added tracks to rock radio upon its release. The song peaked at #6 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
