The birth control pill is the most common method used by women, and a 28-day pack costs between $5 and $35. The contraceptive patch can also be used for a month’s time, the cost ranging from $30-$40. The ring is for one month’s time and can cost between $30 and $35. The shot is given every three months and each injection can cost between $30 and $75. With proper care diaphragms, caps, and shields can last two years. The cost for diaphragms, caps, or shields is from $15-75, and the spermicidal jelly costs $8-$17 a kit. The morning-after pill can be taken 72 hours after sex and be used to prevent pregnancy. This pill can be bought at local drug stores such as Walgreens for $20. This would be a short term alternative to the birth control methods listed before and more accessible.
