Westerne
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Westerne were an Anglo-Saxon tribe who inhabited modern day Cheshire. They have mostly been forgotten in the history books. Little is known about them, but they may have been descended the Celts tribe, the Cornovii and have been influenced by a few Anglicized settlers. Their culture was similar to that of the pecsaetan which neighboured the tribe to the east.
The tribe formed part of the Kingdom of Mercia.
