The cat Western States Hockey League (WSHL) is a former Junior B Hockey League, but beginning in the 2007-2008 season has moved to Junior A Tier III classification. It started its first season in 1994 with six teams. The WSHL currently has 11 teams in two divisions.

The Western Division was also supposed to include the Nevada Stars (Las Vegas, NV) Team Web Site and Peoria Coyotes (Peoria, AZ) Team Web Site, but both teams failed to field a team. A team in Provo, UT has also expressed interest to join the league under the name Rocky Mountain Renegades.
