[edit] About
[edit] Mission Statement
Westering High School, by encouraging a positive work ethic, seeks, through Christian principles and with parents' support, to educate the whole child to reach full potential and to play a meaningful role in society.
[edit] History
Under the leadership of Mr Peter Blackbeard, Westering High School was established in 1970 with 185 pupils. It has grown into a vibrant, community-centered high school of 980 pupils and 45 teaching staff.
Building extensions during the late seventies changed the physical appearance of the school, while our pupil population mirrors a vibrant multi-cultural society.
OPTIMA PETAMUS - We Strive for the best.
[edit] Ethos
The school song and mission statement clearly reflect the values which our community promotes. We always strive for what is good and true while maintaining a balance between academic, cultural, sporting and social spheres.
We foster a strong family bond between our feeder schools, as well as a very enthusiastic Old Scholar Association (WOSA)
We are empowered to nurture and conserve our heritage & resources so that they may be a gift for future generations.
[edit] Coat of Arms
This was designed by Mrs R Blackbeard, wife of the first principal of the school. The principal charge is the chevron which is also found on the P.
