[edit] Byung-Hyun Kim

As I asked previously, please do not undo my edit without making any attempt to achieve consensus on the talk pages. By blindly undoing my edit, you restored numerous grammatical errors and instances of ambiguous language to the article, on top of your intended changes.

I trimmed the article for several reasons. The biggest problem is that the article in its previous state simply goes into too much detail. In the context of an encyclopedia article, it is not necessary to know Kim's line in his decisions. We need to pick the most important facts, state those and move on.

I would also caution you to not make personal attacks. At no time is this appropriate. Please review my contributions to Wikiproject Baseball and to the encyclopedia in general before calling my editing skill into question.

Let's review some of the improvements your revert made:

  • It's been said that his manager Buck Showalter nicknamed him B.K. after his first and last name initials because he appeared like a pitcher Born to striKe out batters. (Weasel words, uncited conjecture, grammatical errors)
  • Without Kim’s performance as the closer in the Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals and in the National League Championship Series against the Atlanta Braves, the Diamondbacks might not have had a chance to claim the World Series Championship. (Fluffery, the same cam be said of any player who contributed to the team's wins)
  • During the post-game interview, Jorge Posada said of Kim, "I think we just got lucky last time." (Unnecessary, please review WP:QUOTE)
  • Kim seemed capable to perform in that role, as he shut out the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with Tino Martinez in the Devil Rays' lineup for five innings and collected the win at Fenway Park on April 29. (Original research, unnecessary detail)
  • In his first start as a Rocky at Coors Field, Kim surprised everyone by outdueling Atlanta Braves' pitcher John Smoltz for five innings while giving up only one run (a solo home run by Andruw Jones). (Original research, unnecessary detail)
  • Etc...

Finally, I did not make any "threats", just advised you that I would escalate the matter to dispute resolution if you refuse to cooperate in establishing a consensus for improving the article.

The matter has been brought up at WP:WPBB. Feel free to participate in the discussion there. caknuck ° has a nasty slice in his golf swing 23:30, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
