German sources spell Werner Schröer's last name with an "ö". These sources include

I have the impression that Umlaute are not well known to the English speaking community. However, this should not refrain us from using them when they are appropriate and correct.MisterBee1966 (talk) 08:52, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

There are a number of German sources spelling it "Schroer" as well:

I am speculating here but due to the similarities in the pictures I am guessing that the lawyer Hansjoachim Schröer ([Hansjoachim Schröer]) is his son, he who pointed to the spelling issue in the first place.MisterBee1966 (talk) 12:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
