June 23, 2007, The Rockport Chamber Music Festival, Rockport, Massacusettes, USA, presented what the performing artists believe may have been the first American performance of Wenzeslaus "Wentzel" Matiegka's “Grand Trio” for guitar, violin and viola with David Leisner, guitar, Irina Muresanu, violin, Marcus Thompson, viola. The music of this, until recently, seldom-heard composer appears to be gaining increasing attendion as awareness grows of his major contributions to the guitar repertory.
