[edit] Plot

The protagonist, Billy, is off to his first summer camp. What seemed like a normal camp starts to become more sinister. The camp director is a little weird, Billy's fellow campers vanish, the counselors don't seem to notice, and there is rumors of a monster called Sabre living in the forest. Just as Billy is about to turn the tables and defeat the counselors, he learns that the camp was a "training facility" where he was being tested so that he can join his parents on a journey to Earth.

This novel was adapted into an episode for the TV series, which was shot at least partially at Camp Samac in Oshawa, Ontario.

The plot has similarities with the short story "Youth" written by Isaac Asimov.

[edit] TV adaption

This Goosebumps book was made into an episode for the Goosebumps television series. It was the only camp episode. In in the book the camp counselors are nice, but in the television series they are mean.
